Session Information

Most families choose this option for their families.  Standard sessions last between 1-2 hours.  Up to five (immediate) family members are included (additional family members $25 each).  These sessions are held in 1-2 different locations – your home and a park, for example.  Madison has so many fantastic outdoor spaces it is lovely to take advantage (yes, year around!).  You will have a gallery with 20-30 fully edited images to view within a few weeks of your shoot.  You will then purchase your images either ala carte or in a package (that includes digital files).

These sessions are held a couple of times a season and include 15-20m shooting time.  The sessions are held in a location of my choosing.  These are perfect for maternity shots, to commemorate baby’s month “birthdays”, as well as to celebrate bigger babes/kiddo’s actual birthdays.  Full families are generally not shot during mini sessions, with the exception of one “holiday card blow-out” mini session day during the fall where the aim is to get a pic or two for the holiday cards.  Sorry, you may not do mini sessions with a newborn.  You will have a gallery of 5-8 basic-edited images to view within a few days of your shoot.  Your mini session fee includes the digital images; prints may be bought ala carte.

These are a bit more time-consuming – so plan for at least two-three hours (though sometimes babes are sleepy little superstars!).  Newborns are best photographed within the first 10 days of life – when they are sleepy, relatively smooth-skinned, mellow buddies.  Newborn shoots are best in your home – with plenty of time for eating, soothing, and keeping things low-stress.  The focus will be on the new babe, though a few family and/or sibling pics will be included.  I can come to your place of birth and photograph the babe when they are only a few hours old – please contact me if you are interested in this.  You will have a gallery of 20-30 fully-edited images to view within a few weeks of your shoot.  (Please keep the timeline in mind when scheduling in relation to the goal for sending out announcements – a rush fee can be paid to receive images sooner.)  You will then purchase your images either ala carte or in a package (that includes digital files).

Birth photography is a unique and wonderful capture of a moment that comes so rarely in most people’s lives.  I generally photography families from the time that they are in mid-active labor through til the birth happens, and remain with the family through the first hour or so.  As someone who is around birth on a regular basis, with my photography I aim to remain in the background, remaining as unobtrusive as possible.  For more information, please check out the Birth Photography page.
